Each week my family enjoys reading children’s books, doing activities, and watching YouTube video clips related to our new grammar. Memorizing the CC grammar is completely sufficient, but if you’d like to add a bit more, here is what my family has enjoyed reading, doing, & watching related to the science sentence, history sentence, or geography sentence. So we can dig deeper, we only focus on one subject per week.
Weeks 1 & 2 Science: Classification of Living Things and Kingdoms of Living Things
Learning about taxonomy and dividing random items into groups (Alternatively, you can have the kids organize the items from your junk drawer.)
Five (or Six) Kingdom Supreme pizza
Learning about taxonomy & dividing things into groups (dumped out from our “junk” drawer) is one of the activities we did while learning more about the science sentence. Examine pond water and yeast cells under a microscope, sing “The Six Kingdom” song, eat 5 of the kingdoms on a supreme pizza, and more! Week 3 Science: Parts of an Animal Cell

One of the activities we did this week at home: making an edible version of a cell while learning about its parts – I also included an all-fruit option if you’d prefer to stay away from candy. Create edible models of human cells and DNA, look at cheek cells under a microscope, and more! This week our History Morning Basket & Activities will simply be reading a section from The Seven Wonders of the Ancient World by Lynn Curlee each day and having my children either sketch some of the structures or use their Duplo blocks & Lego bricks to build models.
Week 5 Geography: Egyptian Empire
Making cartouches in clay (or play-doh)
My children carved their names in hieroglyphics in clay (or play-doh) to make cartouches while we learned more about Egypt in the above link. Dramatize the mummification process, carve clay cartouches, and more! Week 6 Science: Fish, Amphibians, & Reptiles

Week 7 History: Hinduism and Buddhism

Week 8 Science: Types of Seed Plants

Go on a seed hunt, act out germination, create seed mosaics, make and eat a plant parts salad, and more! Week 9 History: Lao-Tzu and Confucius in China

Play a photosynthesis relay race, create an edible leaf structure, act out the parts of a tree, examine and classify tree leaves and use them to identify trees, and more!
