Mark other relevant features (rivers, mountains, famous locations, etc.) if desired. If you&#8217;d like to spend a bit more time researching the country, you can add the language, currency, type of government, religion, and\/or famous landmarks. Write them on the back of the map. The term &#8220;Banana Republic&#8221; was first applied to Honduras by the American writer O. Henry.<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>In Yoro there is the phenomenon of fish rain (lluvia de peces). Fish literally fall from the sky!<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>The cathedral in Comayagua has the oldest clock in the Americas.<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Trujillo is believed to be the place where the first Mass was celebrated in the Americas.<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>In addition to receiving gifts at Christmas, children also receive gifts on September 10, The Day of the Honduran Child.<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>With the amount of coral reefs that are in the Bay Islands, Honduras is the second country in the world with the most coral reefs. While bananas wouldn&#8217;t normally be served with a meal like this, Honduras is a major exporter of bananas.)<\/p>\n<p><a><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Honduras-Style Tilapia\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/archived\/ff4f1e58ecc2f9875b13f8c0ad0f6cd2.jpg\" style=\"max-height: 500px; width: auto;\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Honduras-Style Tilapia<\/p>\n<p>Prep timeCook timeReady inYields<\/p>\n<p>20 min<\/p>\n<p>10 min<\/p>\n<p>30 min<\/p>\n<p>4-6<\/p>\n<h2>Honduras-Style Tilapia<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>1 1 teaspoon salt<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 teaspoon paprika<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 teaspoon onion powder<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 teaspoon dry mustard<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 teaspoon garlic powder<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 teaspoon pepper<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 teaspoon dried basil<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 teaspoon ground cumin<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 teaspoon dried oregano<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 teaspoon dried thyme<\/li>\n<li>1 1\/2 lbs tilapia fillets<\/li>\n<li>2 eggs<\/li>\n<li>1 cup flour (or bread crumbs)<\/li>\n<li>salt and pepper<\/li>\n<li>2 tablespoons olive oil<\/li>\n<li>2 crushed garlic cloves<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 cup finely chopped onion<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Instructions<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>In a small bowl, mix together all dry spices. Sprinkle seasonings evenly over both sides of tilapia fillets. (This can be done hours before you are ready to cook the fillets).<\/li>\n<li>In a large skillet, heat olive oil and saut\u00e9 garlic and onions until just tender. In a shallow bowl, whisk eggs.<\/li>\n<li>In another shallow bowl, season the flour (or bread crumbs) to taste with salt and pepper.<\/li>\n<li>Working with only a few pieces at a time, dip seasoned fillets in flour, then in beaten eggs, then again in flour. Saut\u00e9 the fillets in the seasoned oil for 2 minutes on each side, adding more oil if needed. Remove to a plate to keep warm and repeat the process until all fillets are cooked. Serve immediately. Coat a nonstick cookie sheet with cooking spray. Cut the ends off of the plantains and peel them. Cut each plantain on the diagonal into 1\/2 inch slices. Arrange in single layer and coat tops with cooking spray. Bake, turning occasionally, for 10-15 minutes, until plantains are golden brown and very tender.
