Included are presentation ideas, five senses themed recipe suggestions, and field trip options. My lessons are geared toward 3rd-4th grade level children and their siblings. These are lessons I created to do with a weekly homeschool co-op. We meet each week for 2 1\/2 hours and have 14 children between the ages of 0-13. <strong>Use these fun lessons with your classroom, family, after school program, camp, or co-op!<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>Project and Presentation Ideas<\/h2>\n<p><a><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Eyeball model\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/archived\/af53533bc639e183a3ca740f8cb023e1.jpg\" style=\"max-height: 500px; width: auto;\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Eyeball model<\/p>\n<p>Please select one or more of the following for each of your children to do for an end-of-the unit project:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Do a 5 Senses project. Try one out at home and then either demonstrate it for us at the co-op or simply tell us what you did and what you found out (in science fair project fashion). <a href=\"http:\/\/www.juliantrubin.com\/fairprojects\/psychology\/senses.html\"> Here&#8217;s one site you can start with if you need ideas.<\/a><\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Draw or paint a picture related to one or all of the 5 senses.<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Write and illustrate a 5 senses-related book or poem and read it to the group.<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Bake\/make a 5 senses-related recipe. (Many Halloween-related recipes might be appropriate&#8230;like eyeball cookies, &#8220;finger&#8221; cookies, etc.)<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Research a particular topic or person relevant to this unit and give a report about it\/him\/her. Some ideas include: Braille, seeing eye dogs, Motzart, Helen Keller, Alexander Graham Bell, sign language, Bach, etc.<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Learn to sign a song in sign language &amp; sign it for the group.<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Learn about a musical instrument &amp; either give a report about it and\/or play a song using that instrument.<\/li>\n<p><\/ol>\n<p>Projects that my group did:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Two boys dressed as Alexander Graham Bell &amp; Thomas Watson. They talked about who they were and what they&#8217;d done. Then they showed us a modern phone and explained how it works.<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Two girls dresses as Helen Keller and Annie Sullivan and talked about who they were and what they&#8217;d done.<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Two children created 3-D models of eyes using Styrofoam balls, paint, and other objects<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Two children baked eyeball cupcakes.<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Three children &#8220;sang&#8221; the alphabet and two hymns in sign language.<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>One child did a report on senses that animals have that people don&#8217;t.<\/li>\n<p><\/ol>\n<h2>Five Senses Themed Lunch<\/h2>\n<p><a><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Finger cookies (sugar cookies with almond slice fingernails) for sense of touch\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/archived\/92f9b557c34df760c54fb5d4f92a2fae.jpg\" style=\"max-height: 500px; width: auto;\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Finger cookies (sugar cookies with almond slice fingernails) for sense of touch<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s what we did for our lunch.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The 5 Senses End-of-Unit Lunch is this week from 12 &#8211; 1:30pm immediately following co-op.<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Please bring a side dish, salad (for parents), and\/or dessert to share. I will provide sandwiches, drinks, plates, napkins, and cups. If you&#8217;d like to bring something Five Senses &#8211; themed, search through Halloween recipes for some great ideas on eyeball and finger recipes!<\/li>\n<p><\/ul>\n<h2>Field Trip Ideas<\/h2>\n<p><a><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Field trip to a music store\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/archived\/318ed98eb26bfce405e969922d41d9c3.jpg\" style=\"max-height: 500px; width: auto;\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Field trip to a music store<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>We visited our local music store after the <a href=\"https:\/\/shannon.wasmer.app\/five-senses-hearing-music-lesson-plan\">Hearing: Music &amp; Instruments Lesson Plan (Week 2 of 4)<\/a>. Children got to hear and play numerous instruments in the store and we got to find out how to sign up for music lessons.<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>We visited an eye doctor&#8217;s office after the <a href=\"https:\/\/shannon.wasmer.app\/five-senses-seeing-eyes-lesson-plan\">Eyes &amp; Seeing Lesson Plan (Week 3 of 4)<\/a>. Children got to see and use some of the machines they use in the office. The students created presentations on people and ideas related to the 5 senses and shared 5 Senses-themed snacks and desserts.  (Recipes are included.)
