I have included all the subjects including new grammar, art, presentations, science, and review game. I also added my weekly parent email. This is not an official tutor plan. It&#8217;s simply what I did. I&#8217;m sharing it so other tutors can use it as a springboard from which to plan your own lessons that are tailored to best meet the needs of your own class.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><strong>New Grammar<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>9:30 \u2013 10:00 am<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<h2>Geography<\/h2>\n<p>(Class set of trivium maps, dry erase markers, and small pieces of paper towels will already be at each seat.)<br \/>\u2022 Blob mapping:<br \/>-Have the children use their dry erase markers to trace around the border of America and then erase them.<br \/>-Have the children put the caps on their markers and lay them down.<br \/>\u2022 Point out the capitals &amp; states on my map one by one. (I say, \u201cEyes and pointer fingers up\u201d each time before I introduce the next location.) Each time have the children find the location on their maps using their fingers. They say the location, and I confirm, \u201cYes, that is\u2026\u201d. Repeat.<br \/>\u2022 Show me\/Tell me the locations using a dry erase marker.<br \/>-Show me where Lansing, MI is. Put a dot on it.<br \/>-Show me where Columbus, OH is. Put a dot on it.<br \/>-Show me where Indianapolis, IN is. Put a dot on it.<br \/>-Tell me which state &amp; capital this is. It\u2019s Frank\u2026 (Yes, it\u2019s Frankfort, KY.) Put a dot on it.<br \/>-Tell me which state &amp; capital this is. It\u2019s Nash\u2026 (Yes, it\u2019s Nashville, TN.) Put a dot on it.<br \/>-Put the caps back on the markers, but don\u2019t erase anything yet!<br \/>\u2022 Go through the locations with me while erasing locations one by one. (Do them out of order.)<br \/>***Parent Helper: Collect markers and maps and return to tutor bag. Throw away paper towel pieces.<br \/>(*At home we\u2019ll be learning the locations using the song &amp; hand motions by CCHappyMom.)<\/p>\n<h2>Timeline<\/h2>\n<p>\u2022 Flash the cards, while singing card titles 1, 2, &amp; 3, then 1-5 card titles, then 1-7 card titles.<br \/>\u2022 Mix the cards up on the table. Have each pair of children get a turn trying to put the Timeline cards in order on the table while we sing the song together slowly. (If you have a smaller class, you can let each child do it individually.)<\/p>\n<h2>Math<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Hear me sing the 9s.<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Let each child select an action craft stick: The entire class will say while spinning, while hopping, while under the table, while standing on one leg, while standing on a chair, while flapping your arms, while marching, &amp; while making a silly face.<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Say 10s while pointing to them on the board.<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Let each child select an action craft stick: The entire class will say while spinning, while hopping, while under the table, while standing on one leg, while standing on a chair, while flapping your arms, while marching, &amp; while making a silly face.<\/li>\n<p><\/ul>\n<h2>Latin<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Children listen while I sing and do the motions by Hustead\u2019s Homeschool Glimpses (posted below).<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Each child gets a turn jumping a hopscotch sequence on the floor while the rest of the class sings and does the motions for the Latin. (I use construction paper squares taped to the floor. I\u2019ve seen photos of some tutors who use an old bed sheet with a hopscotch setup drawn in sharpie marker.)<\/li>\n<p><\/ul>\n<p>(*At home we\u2019ll be adding the memory tricks from RemoleReels <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Gu4F8uOdGiA\">https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Gu4F8uOdGiA<\/a> .)<\/p>\n<h2>History <\/h2>\n<p>(Ahead of time underline 8 words in the sentence on the board.)<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Sing the history sentence while children listen.<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Each child gets a turn erasing one of the underlined words. Then we sing it together after each time.<\/li>\n<p><\/ul>\n<h2>Science<\/h2>\n<p>\u2022 I chant and do motions while the children listen. (I don&#8217;t explain the motions. I just do them.)<\/p>\n<p><strong>five =<\/strong> hold out 5 fingers<br \/><strong>sight =<\/strong> touch eyes<br \/><strong>hearing =<\/strong> touch ears<br \/><strong>taste =<\/strong> stick out tongue &amp; point to it<br \/><strong>smell =<\/strong> touch nose<br \/><strong>touch =<\/strong> touch around your body with your hands<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Allow children to each roll the silly voice die &amp; chant using that silly voice: Squeaky mouse voice, gorilla (beat chest), fish (flip lower lip with index finger), stick out your tongue and say it, butterfly whisper voice, &amp; soldier voice. *Each time we also do the motions while chanting in our silly voice.<\/li>\n<p><\/ul>\n<p>(*At home we\u2019ll be learning the science using the song &amp; video by Home Video Variety Show, which is posted below.)<\/p>\n<h2>English <\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>I chant while using the rhythm posted by Missy Wilson (posted below).<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Vary who chants it: Children say it with me. Girls say it. Boys say it. Right table says it. Left table says it. Everyone says it.<\/li>\n<p><\/ul>\n<h2>(starts at 1:40)<\/h2>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><strong>Fine Arts<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>10:00-10:30 am<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Draw a square and a cube. Ask the children, \u201cWhat is the difference between these two objects?\u201d (One is flat and one has depth.) Define perspective: Perspective is the attempt to capture our three dimensional world on a two dimensional plane (paper).<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Bring in two balls the same size. Have a parent helper hold a ball up at one end of the room. Have another parent hold a ball up right next to the children. The ball that is farther away will appear to be smaller. Did the ball shrink? No, this is what happens when objects are farther away from us.<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Draw 3D shapes overlapping by following the below directions. Draw on the board a square. Add depth by showing how to make it a cube. Make a gift. Next, a circle which becomes a cylinder. Show how this can be a soda can. Finally, draw a road diminishing into the distance. (Another good option can be found at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.insidethelineslessons.com\/2018\/08\/25\/cycle-1-week-5-japanese-pagoda\/\">insidethelineslessons.com<\/a> .)<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Have children sign their art.<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>***Parent Helper: Collect papers &amp; set aside to dry. At the end of class while we do review, they can put in children\u2019s folders to be sent home OR collect them for the art portfolios that will be returned at the end of the 6 weeks if you would prefer to do that instead.***<\/li>\n<p><\/ul>\n<h2>This would be another good option.<\/h2>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><strong>Presentations<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>10:30-11:00 am<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<h2>Presentations<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Have children collect presentation items from the basket\/table.<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Remind that when someone else is talking, children should: Stop, Look, Listen.<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Remind about presentations: Today\u2019s focus will be: Hear silence once. Make no hmm, um, or any other sounds between your sentences or thoughts. What is today\u2019s focus? [Remember to raise your hand to answer.]<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Each child gets 1 question token (a foam rectangle with their name written on it).<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Have children go in alphabetical order. (We rotate each week.)<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Next week\u2019s optional topic: Demonstrate a science activity or experiment that teaches us about one of your five senses.<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Next week\u2019s skill to work on: Smile and make eye contact at least one time at the beginning of your presentation.<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Return presentation items to backpacks.<\/li>\n<p><\/ul>\n<h2>Bathroom Break &amp; Snack Time<\/h2>\n<p>Pray. Bathroom break. Get snacks from snack basket and have snack while listening to memory work CD.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><strong>Science Activity<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>11:00-11:30 am<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>*Ahead of time watch a video of the science activity by CCLivermore Tutor (posted below) to prepare for Rubbed Off. (Sound and Direction isn&#8217;t included.)<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Follow the script from CCC user nicoleliem for additional ideas for Rubbed Off.<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Read parts of Shhhh&#8230;: A Book About Hearing by Dana Rau about the amazing design of the ears. (I actually just summarize the book as I flip through the pages.)<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>For Sound and Direction, allow each child to have a turn as the helper who guesses from where the snapping occurred. Possibly use a bandana to cover their eyes so they can&#8217;t peek.<\/li>\n<p><\/ul>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><strong>Review<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>11:30 am \u2013 12 pm<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Geography Fast Review<\/strong>: Hand out maps to each child. Divide up children among you &amp; the helping parents so that you are able to each check specific children and what they are pointing at. Call out the geography locations from weeks 1-5. Have children tell me or show me locations using their fingers.<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li><strong>Hot Wheels Race<\/strong>: Have Child #1 select a subject. Each child recites the grammar from a different week (Weeks 1-5). Allow children to each select a Hot Wheels cars to race down a cardboard box \u201cramp\u201d that is set against a table. Everyone collects their car &amp; puts back in the \u201cgarage bag.\u201d Go through the next subject. Repeat with a new Hot Wheels car &amp; race. Continue until you\u2019ve finished all the subjects. (Note: If you don&#8217;t own a large collection of Hot Wheels cars, we&#8217;ve also done this using marbles &amp; pool noodles. They love dropping the marbles down the hole in the pool noodle &amp; seeing who&#8217;s marble went the furthest.)<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Note: I always give children the option of reciting by themselves, reciting with a prompt from me, reciting with help from the entire class, or reciting with just me.<\/li>\n<p><\/ul>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><strong>Abecedarian Applause Week 5<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>(my weekly parent email)<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>We had another great day at CC! Wow! Everyone did an amazing job with their art today! Be sure to check their folders to admire their perspective drawings!<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019ll be starting tin whistle time in 2 weeks. If you have not yet purchased a tin whistle, please get one soon as we\u2019ll be using it every week during weeks 7-12.<\/p>\n<p>*Next week\u2019s skill to work on: Smile and make eye contact at least one time at the beginning of your presentation.<\/p>\n<p>Would you like a little bit extra?
