Classical Conversations CC Cycle 3 Week 23 Lesson for Abecedarians – CC C3W23<\/p>\n

This is the plan I used for a Classical Conversations Cycle 3 Week 23 abecedarian class. I have included all the subjects including new grammar, fine arts, presentations, science, and review game. I also added my weekly parent email. This is not an official tutor plan. It’s simply what I did. I’m sharing it so other tutors can use it as a springboard from which to plan your own lessons that are tailored to best meet the needs of your own class.<\/p>\n

Geography<\/h2>\n

(Class set of trivium maps, dry erase markers, and small pieces of paper towels will already be at each seat.)<\/p>\n

\u2022 Blob mapping:
-Have the children use their dry erase markers to quickly trace around the borders of the continents and then erase them.
-Have the children put the caps on their markers and lay them down.
\u2022 Point out the prominent features on my map one by one. (I say, \u201cEyes and pointer fingers up\u201d each time before I introduce the next location.) Each time have the children find the location on their maps using their fingers. They say the location, and I confirm, \u201cYes, that is\u2026\u201d. Repeat.
\u2022 Show me\/Tell me the locations using a dry erase marker.
-Show me where the Grand Canyon is. Put a dot on it.
-Show me where the Black Hills are. Put a dot on them.
-Show me where the Ozark Highlands are. Put a dot on them.
-Show me where the Okefenokee Swamp is. Put a dot on it.
-Show me where the Olympic rainforests are. Put a dot on them.
-Show me where the Niagara Falls are. Put a dot on them.
-Tell me which feature these are. They’re the Niag\u2026 (Yes, the Niagara Falls.) Put a dot on them.
-Tell me which feature these are. They’re the Olymp\u2026 (Yes, the Olympic rainforests.) Put a dot on them.
-Tell me which feature this is. It’s the Okefe\u2026 (Yes, the Okefenokee Swamp.) Put a dot on it.
-Tell me which feature these are. They’re the Ozar\u2026 (Yes, the Ozark Highlands.) Put a dot on them.
-Tell me which feature these are. They’re the Black\u2026 (Yes, the Black Hills.) Put a dot on them.
-Tell me which feature this is. It’s the Grand\u2026 (Yes, the Grand Canyon.) Put a dot on it.
-Put the caps back on the markers, but don\u2019t erase anything yet!
\u2022 Go through the locations with me while erasing locations one by one. (Do them out of order.)
***Parent Helper: Collect markers and maps and return to tutor bag. Throw away paper towel pieces.<\/p>\n
