I have included all the subjects including new grammar, fine arts, presentations, science, and review game. I also added my weekly parent email. This is not an official tutor plan. It&#8217;s simply what I did. I&#8217;m sharing it so other tutors can use it as a springboard from which to plan your own lessons that are tailored to best meet the needs of your own class.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><strong>New Grammar<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>9:30 \u2013 10:00 am<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<h2>Geography<\/h2>\n<p>(Class set of trivium maps, dry erase markers, and small pieces of paper towels will already be at each seat.)<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Blob mapping:<br \/>-Have the children use their dry erase markers to quickly trace around the borders of the continents and then erase them.<br \/>-Have the children put the caps on their markers and lay them down.<br \/>\u2022 Point out the prominent features on my map one by one. (I say, \u201cEyes and pointer fingers up\u201d each time before I introduce the next location.) Each time have the children find the location on their maps using their fingers. They say the location, and I confirm, \u201cYes, that is\u2026\u201d. Repeat.<br \/>\u2022 Show me\/Tell me the locations using a dry erase marker.<br \/>-Show me where the Grand Canyon is. Put a dot on it.<br \/>-Show me where the Black Hills are. Put a dot on them.<br \/>-Show me where the Ozark Highlands are. Put a dot on them.<br \/>-Show me where the Okefenokee Swamp is. Put a dot on it.<br \/>-Show me where the Olympic rainforests are. Put a dot on them.<br \/>-Show me where the Niagara Falls are. Put a dot on them.<br \/>-Tell me which feature these are. They&#8217;re the Niag\u2026 (Yes, the Niagara Falls.) Put a dot on them.<br \/>-Tell me which feature these are. They&#8217;re the Olymp\u2026 (Yes, the Olympic rainforests.) Put a dot on them.<br \/>-Tell me which feature this is. It&#8217;s the Okefe\u2026 (Yes, the Okefenokee Swamp.) Put a dot on it.<br \/>-Tell me which feature these are. They&#8217;re the Ozar\u2026 (Yes, the Ozark Highlands.) Put a dot on them.<br \/>-Tell me which feature these are. They&#8217;re the Black\u2026 (Yes, the Black Hills.) Put a dot on them.<br \/>-Tell me which feature this is. It&#8217;s the Grand\u2026 (Yes, the Grand Canyon.) Put a dot on it.<br \/>-Put the caps back on the markers, but don\u2019t erase anything yet!<br \/>\u2022 Go through the locations with me while erasing locations one by one. (Do them out of order.)<br \/>***Parent Helper: Collect markers and maps and return to tutor bag. Throw away paper towel pieces.<\/p>\n<p>(*At home we\u2019ll be learning the locations using the song and motions by CC Happy Mom, which doesn&#8217;t include Niagara Falls. If you want a song that includes Niagara Falls, you can use this one by safethusfar: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Ul46lLlA2PU\">https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Ul46lLlA2PU<\/a> .)<\/p>\n<h2>Add in Niagara Falls at the end.<\/h2>\n<h2>Math<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>I sing to the tune of the<em> William Tell Overture<\/em> while the children listen: The Distributive Law States: \/a times opening parenthesis \/ b+c \/ closing parenthesis \/ equals a times b \/ plus a times c.<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Allow each child to roll silly voice die, and we sing it using that silly voice: T-rex voice, gorilla voice (pound your chest while singing it), fish voice (rub your index finger over your lips while singing it), stick out your tongue and sing it, and quiet whisper voice.<\/li>\n<p><\/ul>\n<h2>English<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>I chant &amp; do motions while the children listen.<\/li>\n<p><\/ul>\n<p>-&#8220;Four Sentence Structures&#8221; = Hold up 4 fingers.<br \/>-Simple = Put your hands on your head.<br \/>-Compound = Put your hands on your shoulders.<br \/>-Complex = Cross your arms.<br \/>-Compound-complex = Put a hand on each hip.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Speed up: Children chant it and do the motions with me super duper slowly, slowly, regular, fast, warp speed super silly fast, and then back to regular to speed.<\/li>\n<p><\/ul>\n<p>(*At home we\u2019ll be learning the English sentence using the song by Heidi Stauff, posted below.)<\/p>\n<h2>History<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Sing the history sentence while the children listen.<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Allow children to each roll the music die &amp; sing the history song together using that dynamic: staccato, crescendo, diminuendo, legato, forte, &amp; piano.<\/li>\n<p><\/ul>\n<h2>Timeline<\/h2>\n<p>\u2022 Sing through the song one time, laying the cards in order, face up on the table.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Allow each child a turn to use a fly swatter to swat the individual timeline cards as we all sing the song together.<\/p>\n<h2>Latin<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Sing the Latin while the children listen. (Our community will be using the song by King Things &#8211; Ross King.)<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Vary who says it: Have children chant it with me. Girls say it with me. Boys say it with me. Right table says it with me. Left table says it with me. Everyone says it with me.<\/li>\n<p><\/ul>\n<h2>Science<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>I chant while the children listen.<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Children chant it with me 2 times.<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Basketball: Give each child a half sheet of paper &amp; have them crumple up the paper as you chant. After we finish, have them try to throw the paper ball into the trash can. Repeat 3 more times.<\/li>\n<p><\/ul>\n<p>(*At home we\u2019ll be learning the science sentence using the song &amp; motions by Hustead\u2019s Homeschool Glimpses, posted below.)<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><strong>Fine Arts<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>10:00-10:30 am<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Follow the directions in the Foundations Guide to review the orchestra and sing the song together. If you&#8217;d like, you can share the below link with families for them to use when practicing <em>The Orchestra Song<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><strong>Presentations<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>10:30-11:00 am<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<h2>Presentations<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Have children collect presentation items from the basket\/table.<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Remind that when someone else is talking, children should: Stop, Look, Listen.<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Remind about presentations: Today\u2019s focus will be: Silence: Have at least one silent pause on purpose. Make no hmm, umm, or other sounds between thoughts. What is today\u2019s focus? [Remember to raise your hand to answer.]<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Each child gets 1 question token (a foam rectangle with their name written on it).<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Have children go in alphabetical order. (We rotate each week.)<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Next week\u2019s skill to work on: Everything: Good posture, volume, eye contact, &amp; smiles.<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Next week\u2019s optional topic: Tell us 3 or more of your favorite memories or activities from CC this year!<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Return presentation items to backpacks.<\/li>\n<p><\/ul>\n<h2>Bathroom Break &amp; Snack Time<\/h2>\n<p>Pray. Bathroom break. Get snacks from snack basket and have snack while listening to the memory work CD.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><strong>Science Activity<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>11:00-11:30 am<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ahead of time you can watch a video of the activity by Shondra Neumayer posted below.<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Follow the directions on pp. 270-271 in the <em>Foundations Book<\/em>.<\/li>\n<p><\/ul>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><strong>Review<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>11:30 am \u2013 12 pm<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Geography Fast Review<\/strong>: Hand out maps to each child. Divide up children among you &amp; the helping parents so that you are able to each check specific children and what they are pointing at. Call out the geography locations from weeks 17-23. Have children tell me or show me locations using their fingers.<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li><strong>Hot Wheels Race:<\/strong> Have Child #1 select a subject (pulling one from slips of paper that have the subjects written on them). Each child recites the grammar from a different week (weeks 17-23). After finishing that subject, allow children to each select a Hot Wheels cars to race down a cardboard box \u201cramp\u201d that is set against a table. Everyone collects their car &amp; puts them back in the \u201cgarage bag.\u201d Go through the next subject. Repeat with a new Hot Wheels car &amp; race. Continue until you\u2019ve finished all the subjects.<\/li>\n<p><\/ul>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><strong>Abecedarian Applause Week 23<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>(my weekly parent email)<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>I can hardly believe that we only have ONE more week of CC! It has been a privilege to watch your children grow over this past year! I am really going to miss getting to see your sons every Thursday!<\/p>\n<p>Next week we&#8217;ll be playing <em>Yankee Doodle<\/em> on our tin whistles and will be singing <em>The Orchestra Song<\/em>. Please make sure your child brings his or her tin whistle. It might be a good idea to try to have them practice a few times too. My children enjoyed watching this silly video while singing <em>The Orchestra Song<\/em>: <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/rSAZr-wD80U\">https:\/\/youtu.be\/rSAZr-wD80U<\/a> .<\/p>\n<p>On April 15 we will be having our End of the Year Presentation. Each child will have an opportunity to recite or sing their favorite history sentence.
