I have included all the subjects including new grammar, art, presentations, science, and review game. I also added my weekly parent email. This is not an official tutor plan. It&#8217;s simply what I did. I&#8217;m sharing it so other tutors can use it as a springboard from which to plan your own lessons that are tailored to best meet the needs of your class.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><strong>New Grammar<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>9:30 \u2013 10:00 am<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<h2>Geography <\/h2>\n<p>(Class set of trivium maps, dry erase markers, and small pieces of paper towels will already be at each seat.)<br \/>\u2022 Blob mapping: Tell them that the next thing they get to do every week is to trace all of America. You\u2019ll do this each week as soon as you come in after you\u2019ve put your backpack, snack, water, &amp; presentation item in their places. <br \/>-Model how to do a very fast, rough sketch of America on the trivium map using a dry erase marker. <br \/>-Have the children use their dry erase markers to trace around the border of America and then erase them. <br \/>-Have the children put the caps on their markers and lay them down. <br \/>\u2022 Point out the capitals &amp; states on my map one by one. (I say, \u201cEyes and pointer fingers up\u201d each time before I introduce the next location.) Each time have the children find the location on their maps using their fingers. They say the location, and I confirm, \u201cYes, that is\u2026\u201d. Repeat.<br \/>\u2022 Show me\/Tell me the locations using a dry erase marker. <br \/>-Show me where Montpelier, VT is. Put a dot on it.<br \/>-Show me where Albany, NY is. Put a dot on it.<br \/>-Show me where Trenton, NJ is. Put a dot on it.<br \/>-Tell me which state &amp; capital this is. It\u2019s Harri\u2026 (Yes, it\u2019s Harrisburg, PA.) Put a dot on it.<br \/>-Tell me which state &amp; capital this is. It\u2019s Do\u2026 (Yes, it\u2019s Dover, DE.) Put a dot on it.<br \/>-Put the caps back on the markers, but don\u2019t erase anything yet!<br \/>\u2022 Go through the locations with me while erasing locations one by one. (Do them out of order.)<br \/>***Parent Helper: Collect markers and maps and return to tutor bag. Throw away paper towel pieces.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>(*At home we\u2019ll be learning the locations using the songs &amp; hand motions by CCHappyMom.)<\/li>\n<p><\/ul>\n<h2>Timeline<\/h2>\n<p>\u2022 Flash the cards, while singing card titles 1, 2, &amp; 3 (Seven Wonders through Hittites &amp; Canaanites), then 1-4 card titles, then 1-5 card titles, and 1-6 card titles.<br \/>\u2022 While singing and flipping through the final time (doing all 7 cards), pass one out to each child.<br \/>\u2022 Have them bring up their timeline card and put it on the board as we sing the song together.<\/p>\n<h2>Math (3s)<\/h2>\n<p>(Note: I separated the math this week to spread out the physical activity.)<br \/>\u2022 Hear me sing the 3s.<br \/>\u2022 Have children sing it with me.<br \/>\u2022 Play \u201cLondon Bridge\u201d with the helping moms being the bridge and the children walking under their arms. When you sing 36, drop arms and \u201ctrap\u201d the child while saying the last numbers. Do this 5 times. <em>(The tune of the song is not London Bridge. It&#8217;s just a fun game to play while singing the song.)<\/em><\/p>\n<h2>History<\/h2>\n<p>\u2022 Sing the history sentence &amp; do motions while children listen.<br \/>\u2022 Have children sing it with me &amp; do motions 6 times:<br \/>\u2022 In 1620 = Hold up 6 fingers<br \/>\u2022 the Pilgrims = Hold hands together like you\u2019re praying<br \/>\u2022 signed the Mayflower Compact = Hold up your L hand flat like it\u2019s the Mayflower Compact &amp; pretend like you\u2019re writing using your R hand<br \/>\u2022 before founding Plymouth Colony = Leap forward as far as you can<\/p>\n<h2> English <\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>I chant using the rhythm posted by Missy Wilson while children listen.<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Allow children to each roll the silly voice cube &amp; chant using that silly voice: Squeaky mouse voice, gorilla (beat chest), fish (flip lower lip with index finger), stick out your tongue and say it, robot voice, &amp; T-rex voice.<\/li>\n<p><\/ul>\n<p>(*At home my children enjoyed the English puppet show by TwoFish <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=VpazsH-zD34\">https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=VpazsH-zD34<\/a> .)<\/p>\n<h2>Latin<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Children listen while I say it &amp; use slap\/clap rhythm: I clap my hands for the Latin and slap my thighs for the English.<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Vary who says it: Children say it with me with doing clap\/slap rhythm. Right table says it. Left table says it. Girls say it. Boys say it. Everyone says it.<\/li>\n<p><\/ul>\n<p>(*At home we\u2019ll be singing it using the tune by funny shirl.)<\/p>\n<h2>Science <\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Chant the science sentence &amp; touch the parts while children listen:<\/li>\n<p><\/ul>\n<p>\u2022 The bones that make up the axial skeleton are the cranium = Touch your head<br \/>\u2022 vertebrae = Touch your backbone<br \/>\u2022 ribs = Touch your ribs<br \/>\u2022 and sternum = Touch your sternum<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Speed up: Have children chant &amp; touch the various parts with you. Start very slowly, &amp; get faster each time. By the 6th &amp; last time, say it \u201csuper duper silly fast.\u201d<\/li>\n<p><\/ul>\n<p>(*At home we\u2019ll be singing it using the tune by Home Video Variety Show.)<\/p>\n<h2>Math (4s)<\/h2>\n<p>\u2022 Hear me sing the 4s.<br \/>\u2022 Children sing with me.<br \/>\u2022 \u201cNinja\u201d Moves: Sing while punching, karate chopping, doing front kicks, doing side kicks, &amp; doing roundhouse kicks. Ahead of time use a yellow colored pencil and do the mirror image on that child\u2019s copy. While the rest of the class does the mirror image, have that child follow along, tracing over the yellow colored pencil lines.<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>***Parent Helper: Draw half shapes on board: half a triangle, smiley face, square, star, circle, etc.) ***<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Show a cut shape that is folded in half. Have children guess what it will look like when you open it up. Open it up and talk about mirror image and symmetry.<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>One way that you can become better at drawing is to practice drawing mirror images.<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Show some drawings by M.C Escher.<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Children come up to the whiteboard one at a time to finish mirror images drawn there by the mom helper.<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Pass out a skeleton picture to each child. Children follow along with my drawing on the whiteboard. Start by drawing on the side that is already drawn and then go straight across to the other side. What is today\u2019s focus? [Remember to raise your hand to answer.]<br \/>\u2022 When presenting: Stand on the X and say your name. (&#8220;Hi, my name is&#8230;&#8221;) Tell us 1 or 2 things special about each of the items you brought. Then ask if anyone has any questions: &#8220;Does anyone have any questions?&#8221; Use the listener\u2019s names when calling on them. The listeners raise their hands. The presenter then asks, &#8220;Yes, [name]. What is your question?&#8221;<br \/>\u2022 Each child gets 1 question token (a foam rectangle with their name written on it).<br \/>\u2022 Have children go in alphabetical order. (We rotate each week.)<br \/>\u2022 Next week\u2019s optional topic: Make us laugh. Tell us a skeleton joke. Use your Lego\u2019s to create a skeleton or bone to use as a visual aid. If you don\u2019t like using Lego\u2019s, you can make your skeleton or bone out of other materials or draw it. After you tell us your joke, tell us 1-3 interesting facts you learned about bones or skeletons.<br \/>\u2022 Next week\u2019s skill to work on: Volume: Can the whole room hear you audibly? Make sure to not be too soft or too loud.<br \/>\u2022 Return presentation items to backpacks.<\/p>\n<h2>Bathroom Break &amp; Snack Time<\/h2>\n<p>Pray. Bathroom break. Look at the example from CCC user amy.snider if you need an example.<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li><strong>Nerf Gun Review:<\/strong> Kids take turns pulling questions from a bag. Let them try to answer by themselves, but quickly let the class answer it together if they need assistance. After they answer the question, they get to shoot at a bull-eye\u2019s on the board.<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Note: Whenever I do review games, I always give children the option of reciting by themselves, reciting with a prompt from me, reciting with help from the entire class, or reciting with just me.<\/li>\n<p><\/ul>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><strong>Abecedarian Applause Week 2<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>(my weekly parent email)<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>It is such a delight to have a class full of so much enthusiasm for learning!<\/p>\n<p>Everyone did a great job with presentations today!
